lug it all : Swiss Gear Ibex 17-Inch Notebook Backpack
This back pack is very good. Well made, sturdy for carrying all the weight. The two items missing that keep this from being a 5 star review are: no waist strap, With all this wieght in the pack this would help alot. 2nd is no rain flaps on the zippers. I am in Seattle and I am concerned over rain getting into the bag on the long daily commute.

17.5 inch laptop (10lbs) 4lb power brick. plus lunch, note book, paper work, coffee thermos, Oracle manual, Reading book. Yep, alot fits in this while staying compact.

Buyer Beware...Quality is Shoddy... : Mobile Edge MEBPE7 16-Inch PC 17-Inch Mac Express Backpack

I got 2 of these for my kids in October, ages 16 and 11, and both of them starting breaking after less than a couple months of daily use. My son's top strap snapped after one month, then one of the arm straps unraveled. My daughters zippers broke in several places, and the same top handle and arm straps are starting to unravel as well. I bought them because of the 4 star rating and lifetime guarantee. I am beginning to doubt the validity of the star rating system, since I bet few people come back to comment after these back packs are in tatters.

Targus Drifter Ii Backpack : Targus Drifter II Backpack Designed for 17-Inch Laptop TSB239US (Black/Gray)
I am currently going to school and also need a laptop bag... This backpack is extraordinary the only thing it does not have is a spot for the kitchen sink and an mp3 player pouch on the strap. It has some pockets and a hidden one inside the lower back cushion. Airflow is Great and while it does take some getting used to you only feel a measure of the weight!!! I would buy this thing for much more than i did!!! If you need to carry books and a laptop this is the bag! if you need just the laptop and accessories than look elsewhere. If you need more i would go with the Xl. Currently I have 3 textbooks, 3 notebooks, A Wacom tablet (in it's case), a 15.6" laptop, some accessories, a change of clothes and a hoodie in mine and it's still comfortable!!! The only time i consideration the weight is when getting on/off my bike or when putting on/removing the backpack!!!
